My name is Marnie Pantano.
I have been making bears now for about 23 years.
Ever since l was very little l have loved to create beautiful things!
I knew l wanted to be an artist from the very beginning!
I majored in illustration and painting but also studied design, ceramics and graphic art as well as other creative subjects.
I never really knew how to sew but loved the art of textiles and was interested in learning.
After a few very basic bear making and embroidery classes I became obsessed with evolving my skills as a bear artist.
I entered many competitions in Australia and became a multi award winning artist. I have never looked back.
I hand stitch my bears and spend endless hours, weeks, months working on some of my pieces in which l have incorporated some of my art skills as well as sculpting, beading, embroidery, and painting etc.
I am deeply committed to growing as an artist and using my work to bring great joy to those who love and appreciate it.
I have taught for many years both bears and art and craft and met some of my closest friends l have today through doing so.
I do hope you enjoy viewing my work.

Audrey Bear Exclusive To Teddy Mission Summer Show 2022

Absolutely stunning Audrey Bear is 39 cm (15.4 inches) long from foot to head excluding hat,
41.5 cm (16.3 inches) long including hat and
35 cm (13.8 inches) long from bottom of tin to top of hat.
Her face is completely hand sculpted.
Made of mohair and highest quality viscose fur.
She is completely hand stitched.
Fully jointed.
Glass pellet and polyester filled (she is a very solid and heavy).
Beautiful brown glass eyes.
Hand painted details.
The beading is exquisite and was particularly time consuming as the whole shawl is beaded using a combination of high quality ribbons, shells, a variety of beads, sequins, and lace, and then aged for effect.
The turquoise stone brooch is absolutely gorgeous. It was a part of my personal collection.
The jewels are recycled.
The wooden butterflies are hand painted and are not fixed so you can position them anywhere you like.
The stunning old baking tin is amazing with lots of wear and tear giving it great character. It is very heavy.
The doily is aged for effect and is very pretty.
This is an absolute favourite for me.
She is truly a magnificent centrepiece.

Ellie May Owl is approximately 27 cm (10.6 inches) sitting in her nest from the top of the hat, and approximately 22 cm (8.7 inches) from bottom of foot to top of head, however she is quite solid in stature.
Ellie May’s head and claws are hand sculpted from clay.
Her hair is made of mohair hand dyed by Wendy Cosford.
She is completely hand-stitched.
She has beautiful glass toffee coloured eyes.

Her gorgeous hat is made of raw silk.

Elmer’s head is completely hand sculpted clay without any mould used.
Little bird is also hand sculpted clay then covered in fur and then painted.

This gorgeous piggy has a completely hand sculpted head (no mould used) and hand sculpted hat, so he must be handled carefully.
His fur is of the highest quality viscose which has been hand dyed in a variegated style by our beautiful Wendy Cosford who passed away earlier this year. Wendy’s hand dyed furs are just exquisite!
Paw pads are cashmere.
Completely hand stitched and painted details.
High quality glass eyes.
Fully jointed.
Polyester and glass pellet filled so he has a very good solid weight.

Her head and claws are completely hand sculpted in high quality clay so therefore they need to be handled with care.
Her fur is mohair.

Bow and hat are made of high quality raw silk.
Hand beaded with many types of different textured beads which l have aged for effect.
